Bengali’s and their love for fish need no introduction. For them, fish is not just a food item – it is actually a very important part of their culture.
On any occasion, fish plays a vital role in Bengali culture.
It might sound like a very common statement that a typical Bengali family makes sure that they have fish on their daily menu.
As far as I know, fish is cooked daily for the main course in most traditional Bengali households.
Bengali cuisine is incomplete without maacher jhol (fish curry) or a fish dish.
This is a simple and quick recipe - Shorshe Bata Maach (fish fry in mustard paste). This dish is best served with steamed rice
and Baja Moong Dal for a full Bengali meal of the day, not forgetting of course adding Bengali Mishti or Mishti chutney of your choice to top it all.
So go ahead and Enjoy!!
