Hi Friends,
Greetings to all from me.
I am touching on a topic which some of you may wonder why I am doing so. Well, I have been inspired by a programme on TV, which I have been following for quite a while and thought that I should share with you all on what I feel about it.
The topic is open for all to agree or maybe not to. Well the choice is yours!
Regards,
Why do we look down on transgenders
What does transgender mean?
As the name implies, someone who is transgender is someone who transgresses gender boundaries. Transgender behavior encompasses everything from a boy wearing fingernail polish to someone having surgery to change their sex. Transsexuals are people whose gender identity is opposite of their anatomical sex. Many (but not all) transsexual people take hormones and/or undergo sex reassignment surgery. Female to male (FTM) people were born physically female but see themselves as partially to fully masculine. Male to female (MTF) people were born physically male, but see themselves as partially to fully feminine.
Transgenders are still considered a social outcast. How do you see transgenders in our society?
Gender is the least of my concern or even interest. When I interact with an individual, I connect with the personality, the intellect and attitude. And, none of these attributes have anything to do with their gender. So, personally I couldn't care less of their gender or per se, lack of it.
Though in a landmark judgment, the Supreme Court created the "third gender" status for hijras or transgenders, we still consider them an outcast, because we are afraid to accept that what we don't understand or seems to be different from the obvious. Earlier, they were forced to write male or female against their gender and be allowed admission in educational institutions and given employment on the basis that they belonged to the third gender category.
This is for the first time that the third gender has got a formal recognition. It has also been said that if a person surgically changes his/her sex, then he or she is entitled to her changed sex and cannot be discriminated. But we still consider them an outcast, because we are afraid to accept that what we don't understand or seem to be different from the obvious.
Transgender people are just like you and me. They can do whatever they want to do in the world. Being transgender doesn't change anything about a person's value or potential for achievement. Transgender people are people, and people should try as best as they can to excel at whatever they find fulfilling, interesting and useful in life. That might mean becoming a political campaigner or a concert pianist or an engineer or a writer or a scientist or a doctor or any number of other things.
Transgenders are HUMANS! They have every right of being themselves and none of us can stop them. They deserve everything that we do and they are no different from us and yet they are made fun of and outcasted by us. We should rather support them than just avoid them. Some people have a myth that they curse people which is so not true. India being a superstitious country, they believe just about everything. People point a speck in other people’s eye when they have a log in there own eye. When you can't support them then at least don't make their life miserable. We should finally try to understand that not everybody is same and people who are slightly different from us are still people and hold every right that we all hold.
Indian culture is an inclusive culture. Most of vedas and other spiritual and psychological scriptures insists that there is nothing unnatural.
In my opinion Transgender people are also like us, they are also human beings and they should be treated equally. I think that still society need to change its attitude towards transgenders and allow them to come to mainstream.
As we know that transgender is a change or between in the male and female. They have characters which is very different from normal one. Just look earlier I used "NORMAL" actually not we should not mention this particular word when we talks about transgender because as male or female is known to be normal then usually transgender also are normal beings. As our society every time talks about any matter and says that one God wish or nature happening. They also accept that we are all created by nature but problem comes when it is about transgender. Same they are also created by God, then why and what is the problem to accept them? Why they are considered a social outcast. Yet there are celebrities who are transgender characters, are talented and really knowledgeable and are doing very well in our Society. They are normal humans who just differ in their physical or sexual preferences. It is like discriminating a blue-eyed girl in a group of black-eyed Indian fellows. We the people have prejudiced the community on the basis of our own beliefs and customs and have been discriminating them wherever we get a chance, they are nothing but a bane as per our society.
As far as my view is concerned, I would like to conclude by saying that "I SEE THEM AS NORMAL HUMANS IN OUR INHUMANE SOCIETY"
