Pisang Goreng (Fried bananas)(Indonesian Banana Fritters) Recipe
Pisang goreng was my favorite childhood snack growing up. I'd steal pieces to eat just as they came out piping hot from the wok. My mum would cut the bananas into slices and scoop them into the hot oil so they would fry up into round discs. When I'm lazy I just slice them in half and fry them that way.
Ingredients
Serves: 8
125g rice flour
25g tapioca flour
100ml water
1/4 teaspoon salt
10 bananas
500ml oil for deep frying
Directions
Make the batter by combining all the ingredients except the bananas. Mix until smooth and lump-free.
- Cut the bananas into 2cm slices or halve them lengthwise.
- In a wok, heat the oil until very hot. Dip the banana pieces into the batter and scoop into the hot oil with a generous amount of batter. Fry until golden on all sides and drain on paper towels. Eat immediately!
Serve with vanilla ice cream.
