Signs to Confirm That Your Bad Boss Is, Indeed, Terrible

Signs to Confirm That Your Bad Boss Is, Indeed, Terrible

This is a true experience ……….

After having retired early last year and having returned from abroad, Renee decided to get herself a job to at least keep herself busy and not get into depression which is generally the case after retirement.

A person from one of the Corporate Offices who is into tea and has tea gardens in Dibrugarh, Assam and is a member of elite Clubs, knew her from her previous office, got in touch with her and asked her to help him out, which she did not know what she was landing herself into. She was warned about him by quite a few people including her previous boss, but unfortunately she did not take heed.  She started working for him and as his office was in real shambles, got it all sorted out as a proper workplace.

Gradually she got to learn that this man was part of the misery-inducing majority, then here are a few surefire ways to tell.

He was on of those that "It's you, not me" thinking – If and when he can get away with it, a terrible boss will try and convince everyone else that they're the problem. This can lead to them becoming discouraged and disengaged, themselves, over time.

He is even very nasty to his household staff and even the nurses / ayahs who are looking after his 95 years old mother, who is bedridden.  He felt that they were all thieves - as he himself is and when he was with the Corporate Office - he was given accommodation when he was with them and did not return the apartment even after he was told to leave.  He still has it - what would you call such a man.  He would deprive them of meals and also not pay them on time i.e. even not pay them for at least a couple of months.  They would come down to Renee’s office and literally cry as each of them were literally slogging their guts out for not only doing their own allotted jobs but also jobs that were given in addition to what they had come for.  All the house staff are good and hard working and it would wrench anyone’s heart to see them being treated like this. They are staying on because of accommodation otherwise they too would have left.  If he was told to pay them he would not be bothered and would start shouting and wanted to know why anyone would feel sorry for them. Even to pay her salary he had real problems and that he started by paying her in two installments.  Everyone then decided to backchat him now which hits him hard.

Little to no constructive feedback – The second you slip up, your manager is in your face making sure you know how royally you messed up … again.  Horrible bosses hardly ever praise their employees for a job well done.  Instead, they condescend to them and end up taking all the credit when something does goes right. As for feedback, you can kiss any hope of that goodbye, because all you're going to hear from a bad boss is what you did wrong and how you're making him look bad.  Unreliable – A disengaged manager is unreliable at best, and untrustworthy at worst. All they care about is collecting their paycheck with as little stress as possible and getting the hell out of Dodge, day in and day out. And you can forget about that promotion you've been promised for some time now, because you're miserable boss isn't going to be too fond of the possibility of someone other than him getting a raise and some praise.  Spending money is only his right!

Even the Bank Staff where he has his accounts were not spared from his shouting and daring them that if they do not do his work on priority bases, he will make sure that they are sacked.  Behaving that he is the only very very important customer that the Bank Staff should attend to.  He would speak so rudely to anyone who came on line and would start about his bragging about his background and his life, which was mainly lies.  It is for sure the party at the other end would just want to bang the phone down but the Bank staff being binded by his duty had to listen.  If anybody from the Bank would come and ask him for their EMIs, he  would be told to get out.   He would also just brag about his corporate job from which he was actually sacked and also some jobs which he is supposedly to have done in Oxford / Cambridge.  He loves to brag about himself saying he is a Khandani Zamindar.  Anyone would get fed up hearing to his stories whenever there was a meeting with some tea brokers or anyone else.  Who has got so much time to spend on any meeting.  People want to talk to the point and move on.

The bottom line is, bad managers are bad for business, and they're even worse for their employees. A disengaged manager means disengaged employees – it's no wonder, then, why so many people hate their jobs. Therefore, it's a wise career move to be able to recognize a sorry-excuse-for-a-boss if you have one, so that you can salvage a fulfilling future for your career and be on your way.

Horrible bosses hardly ever praise their employees for a job well done. Instead, they condescend to them and end up taking all the credit when something does goes right. As for feedback, you can kiss any hope of that goodbye, because all you're going to hear from a bad manager is what you did wrong and how you're making him look bad.

A disengaged manager is unreliable at best, and untrustworthy at worst. All they care about is collecting their paycheck with as little stress as possible and getting the hell. Renee’s boss fits all of these to the T and he thinks he's irrigant when in all actuality he's ignorance is what will force him to close up shop

When you are reading this article, don't just relate it to your boss. Also relate it to yourself, even if you are not somebody's boss. Treat your co-workers the way a good boss would treat them and maybe soon you will be in the position that a "good boss" is in.

This article is definitely a true life story and Renee was made to flee from the position where she had worked for three months without salary, of course.

Countless tasks and responsibilities for...a very little paycheck, constant harassment and lack of respect. This must stop.

Renee's boss' is guilty of everyone of these things and more.  He lectures about various idiotic theories of his, and his anger ramps up with each sentence so by the time he gets to end, he is screaming obscenities. He owns the place...it's his business.   It could be said easily he has a major bullying problem and verbally abuses anyone who works for him and does not shy from using obscene language which is very embarrassing.   He obviously favors verbally abusing the staff around him.  For him everyone is a thief. I think the guy is bipolar or schizophrenic or something.

Just the other day he had a couple over from outstation as his guests.  He introduced them to Renee and asked her to take a few points for work the next day as it was quite late in the evening.  Suddenly he started using obscene language in his jokes which he thought were funny but in fact it was very embarrassing not only to her but even his guest who then all decided to get up and go away.

That did not stop her for really paying him back in his own coin.   Renee then decided that it was enough as she was scared that it may lead to something worse so she decided to  walk out of the office without salary but never ever to go back.

Next day she gets gets to know that the couple who were his guest with whom he misbehaved and tried extracting money from, got scared and they too decided to leave his house as they realised he is not only a bad boss but also a demon in disguise.  It was Renee basically who had warned them about him.  He loves bragging that he is the founder of ALSOC and other Groups of St. Xavier's and is funding the college also and has an ALSOC office all to himself in St. Xaviers.

He can lie in such a convincing manner that you tend to believe that all he says is true!

Had a few of these... my question to the group is... when looking for a job, they advise you not to talk badly about past jobs or bosses... it is kind of the elephant in the room. Everybody knows that most people quit jobs because of bad bosses but nobody wants to hear about it... is there a good way to state that is the reason to leave a job without harming your possibilities for a new job?

One comes to the the conclusion that the mean Bosses intentionally want others to suffer either emotionally, mentally, or physically or even all three. This act is not always to make themselves feel better but because they can find it humorous having no conscience.  He may be an unhappy person, one that finds joy in the hurting of others.

Thank you for reading this article and please make sure you learn from this if you are experiencing the same.
