True love does wait - This is Destiny

True love waits : Reunited with Soulmate

after 54 Years

TRUE STORY

This is a true story of two lovable people known to me..  Ruth was devastated when her relationship with her childhood sweetheart Charles ended when she was 14 due to some misunderstandings created by relatives.  Being young easily believed them and did not think of challenging it.  But a twist of fate 54 years later proved that true love really does wait…
They both stayed in the same street and both of them would be on the lookout for each other to have a glimpse of each other at least on the days when they could not meet.. As she was only 14 (Ruth’s mother was very strict and decided to take strict action) and he was 16, and his family knew about their friendship. They used to meet on some pretext or other and they confessed their love for each and gradually they were inseparable.
He was so good looking and she always made sure she cornered him for a chat.
She realised she was young but,  yes was sure what she felt was real.
Over the next two years they were never apart for any longer, only when they had to go to their homes. But things changed when Ruth and her family left and moved into their new home away from each other and then Charles also had to go away for further studies.
For a few months they both tried earnestly to look for each other even through friends but it was not futile.  Not being in touch, eventually their relationship fizzled out.
Ruth was devastated and would cry for hours at a time. But then realised that she had to try and move on.  Ruth met a new man, married him and had three beautiful children, but she never felt the way she had done about Charles, as she still loved Charles.
But the thing was they never came across each other and Charles family did know where Ruth was staying but never gave her contact number or address to Charles in spite of his enquring about it, which is the saddest thing to have happened.  Many a times when Ruth met Charles’s Brother she would enquire about Charles but not once would he tell her where he was or give his contact number.
Ruth got to know much latter that he was married and also had three children.  Ruth wished he’d married her instead.
In the meanwhile, Ruth was very unhappy with her husband though he had made a lot of promises before they got married but then she eventually found out that it was just false hope he had given her and she had to support her husband as well as the children as he would complain always that his work was not doing well so he did not have any money. This had become a routine.  Even when Ruth went to work he would not even be bother to look after the children leave alone their schoolwork. Ruth had to see too all this when returned home from work.  Life became from bad to worse but Ruth always put up a brave front and none of her friends never ever guessed what she was undergoing.  Whenever we met she was always in smiles and joke around.
Her husband then wanted Ruth to help him build a house out of this state in his hometown and told her that they would settle there.  In Spite of her requesting him that she could not leave her job as then who would support the family. This carried on and dear Ruth had to bear all this till one fine day when suddenly her husband fell sick and within a day passed away.  She was the one who brought up her children besides other responsibilities.  The children were very close to her and loved her much more than they cared for their Father.
Then one day early this year she logged onto social networking site and nervously typed in Charles’s name.  Then when she saw Charles photo, her excitement and happiness had no bounds.  She then decided to request him for friendship but as she had changed her name after marriage Charles commented that he does not know her. As she was also looking a bit different as generally is the case with age and circumstances.  This really upset her and started wondering what she could do to let him know her true self.  After much thought she changed her profile in the networking site and put up a her younger days photo and her maiden name.  She still had to wait anxiously as there was no response for quite a while.
After a long wait,  Ruth received a reply saying that he did know her.  Actually he did this on purpose thinking that she is married …..
Excitement and nerves rushed through her as she explained all this to her children who are very understanding and having seen her undergoing injustice. They all got around her and comforted her when she told them that “we’d lost touch”.
Within a couple of hours Charles had replied and asked her contact No as he was in Italy then with his children.   Later that day she received a text message saying: “How you doing these days?”
It was the text that she had been dreaming of for nearly 54 years.
Within 45 minutes Ruth heard a familiar voice on the other end of the telephone.
“I always thought of you,” he said to Ruth but was a married man. Then he told her that his wife had passed away a couple of months ago and he too had three children all settled abroad and he was visiting them.
Ruth too stuttered and said she had three children and her husband too had passed away.
He then told her he tried really hard looking for her and would go down the street where she was staying thinking that maybe one day he will see her. He  used to drive past her old house and look up at the window,” confided Charles. ” I always thought of you as the one that got away.”
They spoke on the phone for hours and frantically arranged to meet each other as soon as possible as Charles decided to cut short his stay to be with her.
Ruth stood on my her mum’s driveway waiting for Charles.
He leapt out of his car and kissed her passionately. It felt like the old days.
“I can’t believe it’s you,’  Ruth said as she stared at him.
They chatted so quickly in that first hour as they made up for lost time.
Immediately they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Age had only proven that they couldn’t live without each other.
It’s like they have never been apart, were just really picking up from where they left off 54 years ago.
Ruth always wished that she’d be reunited with Charles and now she know that true love really does wait.  Yes, they will be united very shortly!
