Dear Friends,
Firstly let me introduce myself before writing further - Parsan Narang. Born and brought up in Penang, Malaysia. I am still a Malaysian citizen but of course registered with FRRO here. I migrated to Kolkata in 1967, at the age of 16. I met my Husband Shyam Narang here in Calcutta and within a day of meeting we decided to get married i.e. in December 1971 ( lost him in 2009 due to lung cancer). I have three well settled children and three beautiful and wonderful grandchildren (one granddaughter in Calcutta and a grandson and a granddaughter in the USA).
I have worked for leading MNCs, and an advertising agency (where I started my career in 1967) in Mumbai (interacting with top models) and also ran a boutique for housewives’ and working women’s attire, when I took a break from working in an office to devote time to my children.
The last stint of my working life and the most interesting one was with The Calcutta Cricket & Football Club (CC&FC) in 2002 till 2015. The oldest cricket Club in the world. The work culture was different from the MNCs, as I had to interact with the Presidents and the Committee Members and of course the Club Members. It was really interesting. I was also known as the walking telephone directory by some Club Members as they were sure where to get the telephone numbers from and for that matter any other information they needed and if it was possible for me to help.
I used to consider it my first home (CC&FC still runs in my blood) as I spent the better part of the day there, and express a wealth of gratitude to the then CEO Mr. Deepankar Nandi, for his unfailing support and all that I learnt from him (despite the arguments we sometimes had but yet we did the best in the interest of the Club). Wherever you may be Mr. Nandi my gratitude and Best Wishes and regards will always be there for you. My sincere gratitude and Best Wishes also goes for all the Past and Present Presidents and the General Committee Members (wherever they may be) with whom I had a very good understanding too and they were sure that job given to me will be surely done. I must also thank the office staff who have always been very helpful and supportive. Last but not the least Ms. Oindrilla Dutt who has been very nice and motivating.
Then I decided to hang my boots and go and settle with my son working with Kellongs in Michigan, Freemont (USA) and be with my lovely grandchildren. But by the end of the day I could not, as I missed Calcutta the City of Joy and of course our Mutton / Fish or any other Curry for that matter and Rice, it was not only for food but the people here are friendly and warm, so back I am and trying to live my life in my way and on my terms.
All writing comes by the grace of God.
